On Sunday, February 26, 2017 Maria Olivia (Rivas) Alanis peacefully passed away surrounded by her family in Watsonville. She was 72.
Maria was born on August 3, 1944 in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico.
Maria was a woman of many wonderful traits. Her life was devoted to her family and their happiness. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to cook. Maria was a very generous person and always loved to help others. Ultimately, she cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren who meant the world to her. To a loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Friend you will be forever missed and always remembered in our hearts.
Maria is survived by her children; Haydee (Javier) Vazquez, Susie Santos, Olivia Garcia, Martin Alanis Jr., Daniel Alanis and Astrid (Joel) Velazquez. She is also survived by her siblings; Antonio Rivas, Felizitas Rey and Ernestina Rivas and her 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 3-9 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10 AM at Saint Patrick's Church with burial to follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
